Sectional

The Laney College tennis teams won the Northern California/Nevada Championship last weekend in Carmel. Both teams will travel to Indian Wells on 10/8 to compete in the National Championship against all the other states in the USA including the Caribbean. For the Men's team this is the 2nd consecutive year that we won the Sectional Championship for the Laney College. Most of the men and women players are the graduates of the Laney College tennis classes of Jeff Jue and Herman Lee. Jeff and Herman are the ones that sent over their graduates for us to train for competition in the USTA leagues. This is great news for Laney College to have two National teams in the same year.

2009 Adult League Section Championship

The 2009 USTA Northern California Adult Section Championships were held over the August 28-30, weekend at the Carmel Valley Ranch Resort and the Chamisal Racquet Club. With record breaking temperatures and the smell of distant wildfires in the air, it would almost be an understatement to say that the competition was hot.

It was truly a family occasion as teams showed up with friends, spouses and children in tow. Several old friendships were renewed and new ones were formed. Carmel Valley provided a beautiful setting that added to the success of the event.

The NorCal League Department would like to thank the volunteers who helped run the desk and served as grievance and appeal representatives.
